Airbnb review request message

# Airbnb review request messages
that earn the fifth star.

The review request is the last message of the stay and the one with the most riding on it. Ask too hard and it reads as begging. Do not ask and half of happy guests forget. The right message thanks the guest, mentions that you have already reviewed them, says honestly that reviews matter to a small host, and gives them a reason to tell you first if anything went wrong. These ten Airbnb review request message templates cover the standard ask, the ask after a problem during the stay, and the follow-ups once the review is in, with placeholders for the guest.

## Asking for a review without begging

Review your guest first, then tell them you have. Platforms reveal reviews only when both are written or the window closes, so a guest who knows yours is done has a reason to finish theirs. It also signals that you are not holding your review hostage to theirs.

Say why it matters in one honest sentence. Reviews are how small hosts get found. Guests understand that and most are happy to help. What they resent is a paragraph about algorithms, or any hint that anything less than five stars is a betrayal.

Give them a way to complain to you instead of the review. If anything was wrong, tell me first and I will put it right. Guests who were mildly annoyed about something will often take that door, and the problem gets fixed instead of published.

## Airbnb review request message templates

Ten messages in three groups. Replace \[Guest\] and the specific details with your own.

### The request

> Hi \[Guest\], thank you for staying with us. If you have two minutes, a review on the platform would mean a lot. I've already written one for you, five stars, easy to host. Safe travels and come back any time.

> \[Guest\], it was a pleasure having you. Reviews are how small hosts like me get found, so if the stay was worth five stars, I'd be grateful if you said so. If it wasn't, tell me first and I'll do what I can to fix it.

> Hello \[Guest\], hope you're home safe. The review window closes in 14 days. Honest feedback, good and bad, helps the next guest and helps me improve the place. Thank you for leaving the kitchen cleaner than you found it.

> Hi \[Guest\], one small ask: could you leave a review when you get a moment? Mention anything you loved and anything you'd change. I read every one and act on them. The new coffee machine is there because a guest asked.

### After a problem during the stay

> \[Guest\], I know the hot water issue on the second morning was frustrating, and I'm sorry. The plumber has replaced the valve. I've refunded the cleaning fee as an apology. If you feel able to leave a fair review that mentions how it was handled, I'd appreciate it, but I understand either way.

> Hi \[Guest\], thanks for your patience with the Wi-Fi outage. The provider confirms it was a street-wide fault, and we've added a backup hotspot for future guests. Your feedback made that happen. If you review the stay, please say what you honestly experienced.

> Hello \[Guest\], I wanted to follow up on the noise from the renovation next door. I've spoken with the builder and work now starts at 9 instead of 7. Thank you for telling me rather than suffering through it. Whatever you decide to write, I'm grateful you stayed.

### Follow-ups

> Hi \[Guest\], just a gentle nudge, the review window closes tomorrow. No pressure at all, but if you have a minute, the link is in your trips page. Thanks again for being such easy guests.

> \[Guest\], thank you for the five-star review, I just read it. The line about the sunrise from the terrace made my morning. You're on my returning guests list, which means a discount next time. Hope to see you again.

> Hello \[Guest\], I saw your review mentioned the mattress was too firm. Fair point, and I've ordered a topper. Thank you for being specific, it's the most useful kind of feedback. If you're ever back in town, you'll find it softer.

## Tips for review requests

### Send it one to two days after check-out

The stay is fresh, the trip home is over, and the review window is still wide open. Same-day requests feel rushed.

### Review them first and say so

It unlocks their review sooner and removes any sense of a trade.

### Never ask for a specific rating in a way that pressures

Saying reviews matter is fine. Saying anything below five hurts me is not, and some platforms penalize it.

### Offer the complaint door

Tell me first is the sentence that turns a four-star review into a fixed problem and a five.

### After a problem, lead with what you did

The fix, the refund, the change for future guests. Then ask for honesty, not for stars.

### Reply to every review

Thank the good ones, address the critical ones calmly. Future guests read the host's replies as closely as the reviews.

## The stay that earns the review starts the day before

Most five-star reviews mention the same thing: clear instructions and a host who was easy to reach. The short-term rentals page on Eventi handles the first half, sending the check-in details to each guest the day before arrival and asking for their arrival time and guest count with buttons. It does not connect to Airbnb today, so the week's guests are pasted in, and the review request itself still goes through the platform.
