How many RSVP reminders should you send before it's too many?
How many RSVP reminders should you send before it's too many?
There's a real line between a helpful nudge and spam. Here's how to think about reminder timing and count for your own event.

There’s no universal number, but there is a clear line: a reminder is helpful right up until the guest has already answered. Past that point, every message is noise.
A reasonable default
Three rounds works well for most weddings: the original invitation, a mid-point nudge a couple of weeks later, and a final reminder shortly before your RSVP deadline. Each round only reaches people who genuinely haven’t answered yet - see how the rounds actually stop for the mechanics.
The one rule that matters more than the count
“Yes” and “No” should both stop the reminders immediately. A guest who already declined doesn’t need to be told again that the wedding is happening, and a guest who confirmed doesn’t need reassurance you got their answer. Only “Not sure yet” and no-response at all should keep receiving reminders - and even then, spacing them out (weeks, not days) keeps a nudge from reading as pressure.
What to do about chronic non-responders
After your final scheduled reminder, treat silence as its own answer for planning purposes - catering counts and seating charts have real deadlines. A personal follow-up from you, not an automated one, is usually what it takes at that point.
