Every wedding website FAQ needs to answer eight questions: what time to arrive, what to wear, whether kids are invited, whether a guest can bring someone, where to park or how to get there, where to stay, what to do about gifts, and when to RSVP. Answer those and you will stop most of the texts before they are sent. Below are 40 questions couples actually put on their FAQ page, grouped by topic, each with an answer written in the couple’s voice so you can paste it and change the details. The lead couple is Emma and James, marrying in Austin in October.

The FAQ lives on its own page in every design in the [free wedding website builder](/wedding-website), and the AI will draft one from your event details before you edit. Keep each answer to one to three sentences; if an answer needs more, it belongs on the schedule or travel page with a link from the FAQ.

## Logistics and timing

### What time should we arrive?

The ceremony starts at 5:00 p.m. sharp. Please plan to be seated by 4:45; the doors close once the processional begins, and we would hate for you to watch from the lobby.

### Is the ceremony indoors or outdoors?

Outdoors on the lawn, weather permitting, with the reception inside. If it rains, everything moves inside and the schedule stays the same. We will post any changes at the top of this site by noon that day.

### When does the reception end?

Last call is at 10:30 and the venue asks everyone out by 11:00. If you are still standing, the hotel bar is open until midnight and some of us will be there.

### Will there be an after-party?

Nothing official, but the hotel bar tends to fill up with wedding guests. Come as you are. No RSVP needed.

### Is there a welcome event the night before?

Yes - Friday drinks at the taproom from 7 to 9, casual, drop in whenever. It is on the [schedule](/blog/wedding-website-schedule-examples) page with the address.

## Dress code

### What is the dress code?

Cocktail attire: suits or jackets with a tie optional, cocktail dresses, dressy separates or a jumpsuit. The ceremony is on grass, so flat shoes or block heels will be your friend.

### What does “black tie optional” mean?

A tuxedo or a dark suit for men, a long or midi dress for women. It means we are dressing up and would love you to as well, but nobody needs to rent anything.

### Is there a color we should avoid?

Emma is wearing white, so please leave the white at home. Otherwise wear whatever you feel good in; the photos will look best with a bit of color.

### Will it be hot or cold?

October in Austin is usually in the 70s during the day and the 50s after dark. The reception is indoors, but bring a layer for the ceremony and the walk to the car.

### Is there a theme?

No theme. Just the dress code above and a request that you come ready to dance. More wording options are in [dress code wording for a wedding website](/blog/wedding-website-dress-code-wording).

## Kids and plus-ones

### Can we bring our kids?

We love your kids, and this one is adults only, apart from the children in the wedding party. We have listed two sitters the venue recommends on the travel page.

### Can I bring a plus-one?

We are keeping the guest list tight, so plus-ones are by invitation only. If your invitation was addressed to you and a guest, your RSVP form will show two seats; if it shows one, we hope you will come and enjoy a night with friends.

### My partner and I are both invited - do we RSVP separately?

No. One RSVP covers your household. The form will ask who is coming and what each of you would like to eat.

### Are babies welcome?

Nursing infants are welcome at the ceremony and reception. For everyone else, see the question above; we know it is a lot to arrange and we are grateful.

### Can I bring my dog?

Only our own dog is invited, and only for the ceremony. The venue does not allow other pets, and we promise to post photos of ours. The no-plus-one wording in full is in [how to say no plus-ones](/blog/how-to-say-no-plus-ones-on-your-wedding-website).

## Travel and parking

### Where should we park?

There is a free lot behind the venue with room for about 80 cars, and street parking on the two blocks north. Rideshare drop-off is at the main entrance on Congress Avenue.

### Is there a shuttle?

Yes - from the hotel to the venue at 4:00 and 4:15, and back at 10:00 and 11:00. You do not need to sign up; just be in the lobby.

### Which airport should we fly into?

Austin-Bergstrom, which is about 20 minutes from the venue and the hotel. Rideshares are reliable from the airport; there is a dedicated pickup area on the lower level.

### Where should we stay?

We have a room block at the hotel next to the venue, with a rate that holds until September 15. The link and booking code are on the travel page. There are also plenty of rentals within a ten-minute walk.

### Is the venue accessible?

Yes. Step-free access at the main entrance, an elevator to the reception floor and accessible restrooms on both levels. If you need a reserved seat for the ceremony, tell us on the RSVP form and we will hold one.

## Gifts and registry

### Do you have a registry?

We do, and your presence is genuinely the present. If you would like to give something, the registry page has a few things for the house and a fund for the honeymoon in Portugal.

### Should we bring a gift to the wedding?

Please do not. Anything from the registry ships to us directly, and we would rather you not carry a box through the airport. A card is lovely and there will be a basket for cards.

### Can we give cash?

Of course. The honeymoon fund on the registry page is the easiest way, or a card on the day. The wording we used is in [how to add a registry to your wedding website](/blog/how-to-add-a-registry-to-your-wedding-website).

### We cannot attend - can we still send something?

You are kind to ask. We will miss you, and the registry works the same whether or not you are there. A note would make our day more than anything.

### Is there a charity you would prefer?

If you would rather give to a cause, we have listed the animal rescue where we found our dog on the registry page. Donations in our name mean a lot to us.

## Food and drink

### What will we eat?

A seated dinner with a choice of chicken, fish or a vegetable main. Passed appetizers during cocktails and a late-night taco cart, because this is Austin.

### I have a dietary restriction - what do I do?

Tell us on the RSVP form. The caterer can handle vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and most allergies as long as we know by the RSVP deadline. We will make sure your meal is labeled.

### Is there an open bar?

Yes - beer, wine and two signature cocktails all night, plus a full bar during cocktail hour. Please have a plan for getting home; the shuttle and rideshare are both easy.

### Will there be non-alcoholic options?

Plenty. Both signature cocktails have an alcohol-free version, and there will be sparkling water, sodas and coffee with dessert.

### Is the cake gluten-free?

The cake is not, but there will be a gluten-free dessert on every table and the taco cart has corn tortillas.

## Photos and phones

### Can we take photos during the ceremony?

We are asking for an unplugged ceremony: phones away, eyes up. Our photographer will catch everything and we will share the gallery with everyone. Phones are welcome from cocktail hour onward.

### Is there a wedding hashtag?

Yes, #EmmaAndJamesSaidYes - use it on anything you post from the reception and we will find it. Need one for your own wedding? The [wedding hashtag generator](/wedding-hashtag-generator) is free.

### Will there be a photo booth?

There will, near the bar, from 8 p.m. The prints are yours to take home and a copy goes into our guest book.

### Where can we see the photos afterward?

We will post the gallery link on this site about six weeks after the wedding and send it to everyone who RSVP’d.

### Can we post photos online?

Yes, after the ceremony. We only ask that you do not post photos of the ceremony itself or of the kids in the wedding party without checking with their parents.

## The day itself

### When should we RSVP by?

By September 15, please, so we can give the caterer a final count. The RSVP button is at the bottom of every page. If you have not answered by then, you will get a friendly reminder; if you need to change your answer, just open the link again.

### How do we RSVP?

Tap the button on this site or the one in the message we sent you. It takes about thirty seconds: coming or not, who from your household, and what you would like to eat. The [online RSVP](/online-rsvp) updates us instantly.

### Can we change our RSVP later?

Yes, up to the deadline. Open the same link and update your answer. After the deadline, please text one of us directly so we can tell the caterer.

### Who do we contact on the day if something goes wrong?

Please do not call us - we will not have our phones. Our coordinator, Maria, is at the number on the travel page from 2 p.m. onward, and James’s brother Tom is the backup.

### Is this site private?

Yes. It is hidden from search engines and only people with the link can open it. Please do not post the link publicly; forward it to anyone in your household who needs it.

## How to write your own wedding FAQ

- Start from the eight questions in the opening paragraph; add others only when a guest actually asks.
- Write the question the way a guest would text it, not the way a planner would phrase it.
- Keep answers to one to three sentences. Link to the schedule or travel page for anything longer.
- Say the hard things plainly and kindly: adults only, no plus-ones, unplugged ceremony. Vague wording creates more questions, not fewer.
- Put the RSVP deadline in the FAQ and next to the button. Guests will see one of them.
- Reread it a week before the wedding and update anything that changed.

Emma and James, their venue, their coordinator and their hashtag are fictional. Every answer was written to be a template; change the names, times and places and the structure will hold.

The FAQ is one page of five. For the others, see [what to put on your wedding website](/blog/what-to-put-on-your-wedding-website), the [welcome message examples](/blog/wedding-website-welcome-message-examples) and the [30 wedding website examples](/blog/wedding-website-examples). Building the site is free in all six [designs](/wedding-website/templates), and if you want the invitation to arrive as a message with RSVP buttons, that is priced per invitation on the [pricing page](/pricing).
