# Zola vs The Knot for a wedding website

The two most searched wedding website builders in the US are both free, both attached to a registry and both sell a custom domain. This page puts their own published facts side by side, with Eventi mentioned only at the end as a third option for couples who need WhatsApp RSVP or Hebrew.

Facts quoted from each builder's own pages, checked October 2026. "Not stated" means the page we checked did not say.

## Price and domains

Both websites are free to create and publish. Zola's custom domain starts at $17.99 according to its page, and Zola lets you redirect a domain bought elsewhere. The Knot sells a domain for $19.99 for one year or $39.98 for two years. Neither price includes anything beyond the domain; the site itself stays free either way.

## Designs, RSVP and privacy

Zola advertises over 600 templates; The Knot advertises more than 100 designs, most with coordinating printed invitations. Both collect RSVPs online with meal and dietary questions and sync them to a guest list. On privacy, The Knot has an explicit Appear in search engines setting per site; Zola offers an optional password on its Privacy Settings page and its couple sites appear in its public sitemaps. Both have a couple search so guests can find a site by the couple's names.

## How they make money, and a third option

Both earn from the registry, paper invitations, a vendor marketplace and the domain upsell, which is why the site can be free. If your wedding is in the US and English-only, either is a fine choice and the decision usually comes down to the registry and the paper you prefer.

If your guests are on WhatsApp, if you want reminders sent automatically to people who have not answered, or if you need a Hebrew site with a right-to-left layout, Eventi is a third option: the site is free as well, the invitations with reply buttons are $0.45 each, and a custom domain is $29 once. It has six designs rather than hundreds, and no registry of its own.

We quote each builder's own pages, link the source and date the check. Where a page did not state something we say so rather than guess. Prices and features change, so verify on their sites before you decide.
