Funeral announcement template

# Funeral announcement templates
with every detail people will ask about.

A funeral announcement is the message people keep and check on the morning of the service, so it has to carry the facts in a form that can be found at a glance: the viewing, the service, the burial, each with its place and time. These eleven free funeral announcement templates cover the standard notice, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Protestant wording, and the practical messages about parking, a change of date and a livestream, with placeholders for the name, date, place and time.

## The order of a funeral announcement

Name and date of death first, in one sentence, since many readers will already know. Then the events in the order they happen: viewing or visitation, the service, the burial or cremation, the reception. Each gets its place and time. Readers scanning on the morning of the funeral should find the one they need without re-reading.

Say who is welcome at which part. All welcome at the service, family only at the graveside, is a common pattern and saves awkwardness at the cemetery gate. If the reception is at a home, give the address privately rather than in the notice.

End with the family's wishes: flowers or no flowers, a charity for donations, where to send cards. One request, and a name to reply to.

## Free funeral announcement templates

Eleven notices in three groups. Replace \[Name\], \[Date\], \[Place\] and \[Time\], and adjust the cemetery and venue names.

### Standard funeral notices

> The funeral of \[Name\] will be held at \[Place\] on \[Date\] at \[Time\]. Family and friends are respectfully invited. Interment follows at Hillside Cemetery, with the cortege leaving the church at noon, and a reception afterward at the community hall on Mill Road, where his lodge brothers are providing lunch.

> Funeral announcement for \[Name\], who passed away on \[Date\] aged 90. Viewing at \[Place\] on \[Date\] from \[Time\] until eight. Funeral service the following morning at \[Time\], then burial beside his wife. All welcome, and the family asks that you sign the book.

> Funeral notice for \[Name\], 1938 to \[Date\]. Service: \[Place\], \[Date\], \[Time\]. Arrive early, seating is limited and latecomers go to the overflow room with a screen. Gifts to the hospice in her name are suggested rather than flowers. Parking attendants will direct you.

> Funeral service for \[Name\], father, grandfather and friend to many, at \[Place\] on \[Date\] at \[Time\]. Cremation to follow privately. The family will receive visitors at the house from \[Time\] onward, and his famous chili will be on the stove.

### Religious funerals

> Requiem Mass for \[Name\]: \[Place\], \[Date\], \[Time\]. Reception of the body the evening before at \[Time\], with vigil prayers. Burial at the parish cemetery immediately following the Mass, then refreshments in the school gym. Pallbearers are asked to be at the church forty minutes early.

> The levaya for \[Name\] takes place at \[Place\] on \[Date\] at \[Time\], burial directly after. Shiva is observed at her daughter's home through Friday morning: Shacharit at 7 AM, Mincha and Maariv at 6 PM. Meals are coordinated by the sisterhood, so please check with them before cooking. May her memory be a blessing.

> Janazah for \[Name\] will be held at \[Place\] after Asr prayer on \[Date\]. Burial follows at the Muslim section of Greenlawn Cemetery. Brothers and sisters are requested to attend and make dua for the deceased. The family receives condolences at the masjid hall for three days.

> The funeral for \[Name\] will be held at \[Place\] on \[Date\] at \[Time\], officiated by Pastor Williams. A hymn sing and fellowship meal follow in the church hall. The family thanks the congregation for its prayers and casseroles these past weeks.

### Practical details and changes

> Funeral for \[Name\], \[Date\], \[Time\], \[Place\]. Parking: use the lot on Oak Street, the church lot will be full. Wheelchair access through the side door. The order of service will be handed out at the entrance. Ushers will seat family in the first four rows.

> Change of plans for \[Name\]'s funeral. The date is now \[Date\] at \[Time\], still at \[Place\], because family are traveling from overseas and the earliest flight lands Thursday. We are sorry for any inconvenience and hope you can still join us.

> For those unable to attend \[Name\]'s funeral on \[Date\], the service at \[Place\] will be streamed. The link goes out an hour before \[Time\] and the recording stays online for a month. Condolence cards can be sent to the family home or left at the funeral parlor, and the guest book is online too.

## What to include and what to avoid

Include the full name, the date of death, each event with its venue and time, who is welcome where, parking or access notes for an unfamiliar venue, the family's wishes on flowers and donations, and a contact. A streaming link, if there is one, goes out separately an hour before.

Avoid the cause of death unless the family wants it included, the home address in a message that can be forwarded, and lists of pallbearers or readings, which belong in the printed order of service. Keep the notice to what people need to arrive at the right place at the right time.

## Lines worth adding

### Dress

If the family wants bright colors, no black, or a particular item such as the person's team scarf, say so. Guests will otherwise default to dark.

### Children

A sentence that children are welcome, or that the graveside is for adults, spares parents the question.

### Timing of the procession

If guests follow the hearse to the cemetery, give the departure time and where cars line up.

### Who to contact

A named person other than the closest mourner, so the family is not fielding calls on the day.

## Sending the notice and knowing who is coming

Funeral homes and families both use the memorial services page on Eventi to send the notice to a list with Attending and Unable to attend buttons, so the number for the reception is known without a single call. Those without WhatsApp receive the same notice as a text, and reminders go only to people who have not replied.
